As a Lincoln County owned nursing home, Pine Crest has a long history in the Merrill community. Built in the early 1900's, the original Pine Crest was located on Hwy G and was known as the "poor farm" or the "county farm." In 1953, a new building was erected with 110 beds and 70 more were added in 1970. A six million dollar addition was completed in 1993 and at that time, Social Services and the Health Department moved to Pine Crest's original facility. In 2008, a large therapy addition was completed. Finally, in 2017 a 20-bed Special Care Unit and 20-bed Rehabilitation unit was added on, all private rooms. Pine Crest has a total of 180 beds servicing a range of patient needs, from rehab to dementia care, and is located in a beautiful, park-like setting.
