As a Lincoln County owned nursing home, Pine Crest has a long history in the Merrill community. Built in the early 1900's, the original Pine Crest was located on Hwy G and was known as the "poor farm" or the "county farm." In 1953, a new building was erected with 110 beds and 70 more were added in 1970. A six million dollar addition was completed in 1993 and is the current facility. At that time, Social Services and the Health Department moved to Pine Crest's original facility. Finally, in 2008, a large therapy addition was completed. Pine Crest now has a total of 180 beds servicing a range of patient needs, from rehab to dementia care, and is located in a beautiful, park-like setting.
